It’s hard to believe that Heavy Metal has been converting everyday people into headbangers since the late 60s, when Black Sabbath rose from the depths of Birmingham in the UK with Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. It’s even more difficult to believe that most of the original Heavy Metal bands from this era are still alive and putting out records! Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, and even Ozzy is still releasing insane music. One incredible aspect of all these artists is the simple fact that the music they’re releasing is still some of the most authentic and original around today. The same can certainly be said for, Too Mean To Die, the new record from German Heavy Metal outfit Accept.

If they don't like it, tough shit
- Wolf Hoffmann

Formed in Solingen, Germany in the 70s by guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, Udo Dirkschneider and Peter Baltes, Accept have just realised their 16th studio album. Very few bands last this long whilst keeping their musical integrity, hell, most bands don’t make it past their second record, so how have Accept continued to deliver such powerful Metal music? “You have to make these songs, or whatever you do, to the point where you are completely happy with them, because then you almost don't care what the rest of the world thinks about them, because you personally think that's the best you could do and you're happy with them, and if they don't like it, tough shit,” Explains Wolf Hoffmann.

That’s an attitude that simply doesn’t exist in the modern music world, and when it does it comes off as an arrogant rockstar wannabe. Younger bands that try to imitate this attitude, are quite clearly trying to imitate this way of thinking. However, veteran guitarists such as Wolf Hoffmann live this attitude, and so does his band. Accept are the real deal, they were there at the start, they’ve committed themselves to this way of life for over 40 years. They’re not in this for social media attention. They play hard because they love what they do and this is what gives their latest record such an authentic sound. They don’t give a fuck, they play what they want and if you don’t like it, well, there’s the door.
