Since their debut record, Rest in Sleaze, in 2005, Crashdiet have been on a rollercoaster ride from the start. With the loss of their enigmatic leader, Dave Lepard in 2006 followed by a plague of uncommitted singers that both helped the band develop, and held them back at the same time, Crashdiet deserve a serious break. Their new record, fronted by Gabriel Keyes, and featuring the usual suspects, Martin Sweet - Guitar, Peter London - Bass and Eric Young on Drums could well see the Swedish Sleaze Kings back on the right path to rock and roll righteousness.
Returning with lead single, Reptile, back in January of this year, Crashdiet were clearly re-energised, full of passion, and hinted at a return to their original Sleaze sounds of their debut record. Gabriel Keyes seems to have helped to inject a new lifeline into the band. Reptile saw Crashdiet return to their iconic sound. Raw, powerful and real.
‘We Are The Legion’ also offered fans a glimpse of what to expect from the new material back in 2017.
Now, the guys return with another single from their upcoming record, RUST, due for release 13th September 2019.
In The Maze delivers a more anthemic and heartfelt sleaze ballad. Martin Sweet and Crashdiet have always been masters of creating diverse and unique material, especially when it comes to telling a story throughout an album. It appears RUST is going to be just as epic as their previous records. In The Maze certainly tastes of fallout from Rest In Sleaze with hints of the development the band have been through over the years. Keyes has already shown he has what it takes to live up to the expectations of Crashdiet fans, no more so in this latest single.
In The Maze is an epic instalment from Sweden's finest. Bring on the new record!
