Rock Music News

This is really not a new story, people constantly complaining about Greta Van Fleet sounding like Led Zeppelin. Yeah we get it, they sound like Led Zeppelin, who cares. But to also make the statement that “Rock is dead” whilst you hate on a rock band that are actually doing more for Rock music right now than any rock band has in the last few years is the most ironically dumb thing you could possibly do.

Do you want every band to sound completely different? If you do then I have an answer to your problem, genres. Genres contain bands that sound similar, if you’re bored of rock music then go and listen to folk music or new age hippie shit because we don’t need your crappy attitude in our rock scene.

Rock is alive and Greta Van Fleet are incredible, however, they still have to tackle this juxtaposing statement of people criticizing them and then also saying rock is dead.

In an interview with Miami New Times, bassist Sam Kiszka spoke about the constant nightmare of having to deal with people with such a narrow mindset.

Sam Kiszka said:

“People complain that rock is dead and then they criticize us. They get negative about a resurgence of rock? Rock 'n' roll has always been underground. A lot of rock people would prefer it stays that way

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. We prefer to remove ourselves from what people think of us. If you get too involved, you get caught up in trying to please people. That's why the music industry today is so bland.”
