Back in 1983, when Metallica released their debut record, ‘Kill Em All’ on independent label, Megaforce, people didn’t take that much notice as it only landed in the US charts at number 66, and scraped the UK charts at a peak position of 142.

So, almost 40 years later, it’s quite incredible to see one of the big four grossing millions of dollars in ticket sales alone.

As more and more people continue to realize that Rock and Metal is far from being dead, figures like these certainly back up the bands still riding the lightning around the globe.

Some claim its all down to nostalgia, but with more and more young concert goers getting their taste of fuel, it’s hard to dismiss the fact that Rock and Metal is thriving right now.

Pollstar, a trade publication for the concert industry, have published their latest financial figures that represent global earnings for touring artists worldwide. The figures include all genres of music. (Full chart here)

METALLICA have landed the number 4 spot on this chart, sitting just underneath PINK, ELTON JOHN, and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.

With over 630,000 tickets sold in 2019, at an average cost of $109.66, that lands them over $69 Million Dollars in ticket sales in just 26 shows. Selling on average, 24K tickets per show. Netting $2,679,447 per show. Not to mention album and merch sales.
