Toronto alternative-rock band Selfish Things have just dropped the music video for their new single “Flood” today.

When describing the meaning and inspiration behind the track, singer Alex Biro states, "I wrote “Flood” with WZRD BLD the day after the Las Vegas shooting.” My wife was taking a climate change course in university simultaneously and I felt like I needed to find a way to talk about human complacency in the face of destruction beyond gun violence. Our species has this off-putting, innate ability to let things go to shit so long as it doesn’t directly impact us as individuals. The song was finished in under five hours - I’m extremely proud of it and the message contained within.”

Additionally, the four-piece has announced the exciting news that they have signed to Weekday Records/RED MUSIC. “The band and I are incredibly excited to be signing to Weekday Records/Sony Music,” Biro exclaims. “It’s nice to be working with people who hustle as hard on their end as you do as an artist on the road. We really look forward to a fruitful and lasting relationship.”

Selfish Things released their sophomore EP, Vertical Love, this past spring, garnering critical acclaim by outlets such as Alternative Press, Kerrang!, BBC Radio One, Exclaim!, and more. The band’s latest EP, produced by James Paul Wisner (Dashboard Confessional, Paramore, Underoath), resounds with the passion and wisdom of any seasoned band, yet also holds the unyielding determination of youth and discovery. Vertical Love delivers six tracks of pure veracity, while showcasing the personal journey of learning to love yourself despite the mistakes and moments in time when you feel far away from the person you are truly meant to be.
Previously, the alt-rock act has toured with the scene’s top acts including Simple Plan, Against The Current, Moose Blood, and Hawthorne Heights. The band will be hitting the road this November and December supporting Story Untold for a handful of Canadian dates.
