YOU may not have heard of the band Dead Posey but you can be sure you’ve heard some of their songs. Formed in 2016 with female vocalist Danyell Souza as the front runner of the act, the band started their career in a relatively unconventional direction.

Instead of building a dedicated following by hitting touring circuits around the states, they simply started to release one song at a time online, which actually created a huge buzz in the industry.

You will have heard Dead Posey songs on shows such as Lucifer, Teen Wolf, Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, and NETFLIX’s Jack Whitehall – Travels With My Father to Macy’s, Sony PlayStation, and League of Legends. They’ve recently signed a deal with Sumerian Records, and a tour support with Palaye Royale and BONES(UK) coming this October.

Dead Posey just released a 5 track EP, ‘Freak Show’ which is full of powerful and enigmaticly well produced hit songs. Hallowing vocals, Jack White style guitars, blues beats, and Dead Weather rhythms make this a really unique release. The EP also features a seriously upbeat version of ‘God’s Gonna Cut You Down’, one of Johnny Cash’s most notable recordings.

There are some elements of grunge, hard rock, blues, and even a little bit of country scattered throughout the record, but the most obvious aspect is how well the record has been produced.

It would be great to see the direction of a full album lean more towards the raw sounds of a band like Dead Weather and see what they can produce, but this is a great EP as it is!
