Ozzy Osbourne, The Prince Of Darkness, a founding member of Black Sabbath the inventors of Heavy Metal, has always been an infamous and mischievous character from the start. He spent his youth getting into fights in Aston where he grew up, even landing himself a couple of months in Winson Green prison for beating a co-worker over the head with a steel pole for making fun of him. Fun, however, is what Ozzy has always been about and it seems as though this still resonates with him even to this very day at 71 years of age, as Clash Magazine found out in a recent interview with the original hellraiser. “Do you know what?” Ozzy grins, “I’d like Denzel Washington to play me!” he says in response to a question about who would play him in a biopic of his life. Obviously joking.

I’ve got about a six-inch scar going down the back of my neck between my shoulder blades
- Ozzy

“I got up in the night to go for a pee, and it was black,” Ozzy explains. “I tripped. I didn’t know where I’d fallen. I’d landed really, really badly on my face, you know? I cracked my neck.”

He’s been through hell and back and he’s lucky to be alive. He has spent most of his 50 plus year career higher than Neil Armstrong on a daily basis. He’s also about to release another studio album in 2020. Ozzy has spent the last few months lying in bed due to a series of health issues and accidents, one of which almost paralysed him. “I’ve got about a six-inch scar going down the back of my neck between my shoulder blades. They had to unrelease all the pressure on my spinal column. I was lucky I didn’t fucking paralyse myself” he says, referring to a fall that dislodged metal rods he had placed in his spine after a nasty biking accident in 2003. “The bummer is: I was singing great, the shows were going great,” he says. “I was pissed off because it’s such a fucking stupid thing knocked me out. I’m really pissed off.”

Thankfully, Ozzy seems to be in good spirits and ready to hit the road again for his No More Tours 2 tour that has been rescheduled for 2020. He also made his first live appearance since his recent spout of health problems. Ozzy joined Post Malone on stage at the American Music Awards 2019 back in November to sing ‘Take What You Want’ A song Ozzy featured on for Post Malones third studio album ‘Hollywoods Bleeding’.

It’s great to see Ozzy back to his old mischievous self and in good health. May you reign for another 50 years Ozzy!
