As Ozzy Osbourne celebrates the release of his 12th solo studio album, ‘Ordinary Man’ the Prince of Darkness is once again doing a string of promotional interviews and videos, which so far have been an absolute delight to read and watch. His most recent being a commercial for Spotify where he can be seen in his LA home screaming at Sharon about how to stream his new album via the music service. If Ozzy is down for anything apart from music, it’s having a laugh.

The Black Sabbath frontman recently took a seat with NME to talk about his new studio album in-depth on a track by track basis, as well as to recall some of the good old days recording with Sabbath. “I’m sitting in the fucking house and I’ve got a big fucking bowl of cocaine on the fucking table, It was when Black Sabbath were doing ‘Vol. 4’ and we’d rented a house in Bel Air.” Ozzy explains. “I was fucking gakked to the gills. I had to have a fucking valium after to mellow me out.”

Ozzy also gave his opinion on vegan food, meat alternatives to be exact. His daughter, Kelly, took him to a vegan restaurant but all Ozzy saw on the menu was Bacon and Eggs, not realising it was a vegan version. He wasn’t too pleased about what turned up on his plate. “Have you tried that vegan stuff?” he asks the NME reporter. “It’s like eating shit. It’s got no fucking taste. My daughter took me to a vegan Sunday breakfast. I looked at the menu and it’s got bacon and scrambled eggs. I thought you can’t go wrong with that. The bacon comes and it’s fucking square with pink bits in it. It looked like alien foreskins. They were going: ‘No, it’s good – it’s got no gluten.’ It’s got no fucking food!”

Ozzy has been struggling with a range of health issues over the last year and he says his new album saved his life. “If it’s not a big hit that’s fine, but this album is quite possibly one of the most important albums I’ve ever made because it saved my life.”

Ozzy has been touring and recording music since 1966, so it’s understandable that not being able to partake in what you’ve been so passionate about for over 50 years can be a mental drain on your soul. Ozzy Osbournes new album features a collaboration with Elton John, the pair have been good friends for many years.
